The Brand

The Name:

A5: the most common size of a sketchbook, which is the tool our founder usually uses to sketch her ideas. Her sketchbook is an extension of her, as it is always the starting point of any project she works on. Fun fact - she has kept all her sketchbooks since 2012.

X: stands for "By"

AR: stands for her name Arwa Ramadan.

You can pronounce the name as "A5 by ARWA"

 

Concept:

All of the A5xAR designs are inspired by concepts from Islam, which is an identity that binds 2 billion people around the world, crossing borders, cultures, and language barriers.

The core collection "5 collection" is focused on the 5 pillars of Islam, presenting them in a modern, simple, original designs, creating a code that only people in the know can understand.

The core collection is predominantly white. White is our prophet’s preferred color to wear, because he (pbuh) wanted to make sure that his garments were always clean.

We decided to follow this sunnah by using only white for the core collection. Later drops may include other colors. 

Complementing the core collection are seasonal drops, that carry the same sentiment and goal, which is having pride in our Muslim identity. The designs are inspired by concepts in Islam and the Sunnah, made visually modern, simple and original, so you can "Belief* in what you wear."

 

A Human Touch:

In an age where true connection is rare, we believe that personal touch makes all the difference. That’s why each piece is hand crafted with love and care. That's why we call ourselves a "Slow Fashion Brand".

 

Sustainability Pledge:

Being environmentally conscious is one of the principles of Islam, and we apply that wherever we can. 

. We make the garments to order, to reduce waste.

. We offer lifetime warranty on the embroidery of our garments. If the embroidery gets damaged, we can mend it for you free of charge.

. We offer up-cycling service for damaged garments, where you can send in your garment and we can turn it into a bag or a pillow case, amongst other ideas. 

. We encourage our customers to pass along the garment when it's no longer in use.

. We are conscious about every aspect of the packaging, to make sure that it's recyclable, or up-cyclable. For example, our tags double as an 11-beaded rosary, our collection description doubles as a bookmark, and our sustainability pledge and garment care card doubles as a mini poster.
